Towns

The towns and cities around include the medieval city of York, famous for The Shambles and York Minster, Ripon with its beautiful cathedral, the spa-town of Harrogate, and market towns of Knaresborough and Thirsk, both full of James Herriot charm.

The North York Moors are just to the east of Yoredale House. Drive across miles of beautiful heather-covered country to the coastal town of Whitby, visit the famous village of Hutton-le-Hole, or enjoy a scenic walk from Helmsley Castle to the ruins of Rievaulx Abbey.

Eating Out

Yorkshire is famous for its pubs, and we have many on our doorstep, including The Royal Oak and The Masons Arms, both a short walk away. Further afield, our favourites are The Wild SwanThe Royal Oak or any of the pubs in the brewing town of Masham, home of Theakstons and Black Sheep.
